Even if a single child is saved from polio due to my work that is the highest achievement for me

"I was a school girl when my father passed away. My mother was illiterate and couldn’t earn money to feed us. Being the eldest child of my parents, I had to discontinue my studies and work to contribute to my family’s subsistence.

The opportunity came when I learned about a polio vaccinator job. I live in a village, where the majority of its residents are illiterate. They usually do not appreciate women going out for work.

I had to face these attitudes for many years until everyone around me could see the positive change in our life. When I realized that my income is not sufficient to cover all the family expenses, especially my sisters’ school fees, I started stitching and crafting at home.

Healthy children brighten up a household with their smiles and joyful play. Our children are our most precious future resource and there is absolutely no other way but to put their health and well-being first."
