Islamabad, 27 February, 2015 - The Minister of State for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Mrs. Saira Afzal Tarar has said that Federal Government will eradicate Polio from entire country, performance of Sindh government has improved in this regard, and no case of Polio has been reported from October 2014 in Karachi. She was chairing a high level meeting in Karachi regarding Polio situation in Sindh.

The Minister of State further said that more security has been provided to polio teams in Sindh. Now there is no issue of law and order and human resources. Federal government will make Pakistan as a Polio free country with the help of provinces.

After the meeting Mrs. Saira Afzal Tarar said in media briefing that there is no lack of coordination among federal government and provincial governments, positive results have been come due to team work. We have directed the provinces to make own mechanism for better and fast results. Federal government is giving full support to the provinces, thereby we will safe our generations from these kinds of diseases.

The Minister of State Mrs. Saira Afzal further said that the Rangers have been deployed with the polio teams in Karachi, while in Tribal area Barra campaign is continuing successfully with the help of Army.

The Minister of health Sindh Jaam Mehtab Khan Dahar and Secretary Health briefed that officials of Sindh government are working with dedication and commitment. Eradication of Polio from Sindh province is their priority challenge.

Mrs. Shahnaz Wazir Ali, Chairperson Provincial oversight coordination Cell Sindh told that Sindh government is providing all facilities to vaccinators, funds have been provided.

The meeting was attended by Federal Secretary National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, Commissioner Karachi and other officials of Sindh Health Department.
