Peshawar - Four days anti-polio campaign will start from December 17th, 2015 in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Frontier Regions (FRs).FATA Secretariat Health Officials with the support of UNICEF, WHO and BMGF will ensure anti-polio campaign throughout FATA and FRs. 3018 teams comprising 2630 mobile teams, 292 fixed teams and 96 transit teams will be administering anti-polio drops to 965403 children below the age of five years in FATA and FRs.

Children in polio high risk areas including Khyber Agency (Jamrud & Bara), South Waziristan, North Waziristan Agency and FR Bannu (Baka Khail, Jani Khail, Hindi Khail and Sintanga) will be continuously vaccinated for 5 days.So far 11 scheduled Oral Polio Vaccination(OPV) Campaigns have been carried out in 2015 wherein the range of target population (children) increased from 796824 in January to 951308 in November; implying steady increase in accessibility.

The polio vaccine refusal rate during 2015 have successfully been seized around 1%, highlighting the fact that most of the target population or children were effectively vaccinated, resulting in lessor number of polio cases in FATA and FRs in 2015. So far 15 polio cases in FATA and FRs have been recorded in 2015: 1 polio case in North Waziristan, 2 in South Waziristan, 2 in FR Peshawar and 10 in Khyber Agency).
