Sindh vaccinator convention was held in Sukkur today to honour the work of front line workers of polio in Sindh and to motivate them and appreciate their work. The event was held in the IBA auditorium Sukkur and Ms. Aseefa Bhutto Zardari was the chief guest of this event and was joined by Ms. Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari. Secretary Health Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo, Chair Person Provincial Monitoring and Oversight Committee Sindh and Chairperson Emergency Operation Centre for Polio, Sindh Madam Azra Pechuho, Coordinator EOC Sindh Dr. Muhammad Usman Chachar, Chairman National Polio Plus Committee and Representative Rotary Aziz Memon, Commissioner Sukkur, Commissioner Larkana and Director IBA were also present on the occasion.

On this occasion Ms. Aseefa Bhutto Zardari said that,“It gives me immense pleasure to be in this gathering which gives us a chance to appreciate the work of frontline workers in our fight against polio. I see a lot of talent in this room and I am sure the day is not far when no child will have to suffer from disability because of a vaccine preventable disease.”

She further added that,“For me, there can be no occasion more significant than this where people who go out in the field, those who tirelessly go and vaccinate door to door are present …it is these people who contribute towards saving our children from the scourge of polio and towards giving them a better, brighter future. Pakistan has come along way in polio eradication from more than 300 cases last year to 49 this year. Every parent must give their children two drops of the polio vaccine to make Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s dream of a polio free Pakistan and reality.”

On this occasion Secretary Health Sindh Dr. Saeed Mangnejo said that appreciated the fact that whatever the conditions may be, front line workers continue with their jobs. He said that many of them have also lost their lives in the line of duty but continue to do their work. Secretary Health Sindh added that today is a special day as we are gathered here to appreciate the work of frontline workers, I hope that these certificates and this recognition motivates you to work even harder.

Coordinator EOC Sindh Dr. Muhammad Usman Chachar on the occasion said that since the establishment of the Sindh Emergency Operation Centre for polio, coordination of all stakeholders involved in polio eradication has become better, we hope the day is not far that we see Pakistan as polio free.

Mr. Aziz Memon from Rotary Pakistan informed of the contributions the Rotary International has made in polio eradication across the globe and said that the front line workers must continue their hard work to reach zero number of cases in Pakistan.

Madam Azra Fazal Pechuho, Chairperson EOC Sindh gave a special tribute to the lady health workers present here and frontline workers present in the room. She said that whether it’s hot or cold, dry or raining, they keep working and as much tribute as one pays to them is not enough. She thanked IBA and Commissioner Sukkur for hosting this event. She gave the message to frontline workers that “Think of this as your duty and help us eradicate polio from Pakistan.”

At the end of the event, Ms. Aseefa Bhutto Zardari handed out certificates of appreciation to the front line workers for polio from Sukkur and Larkana Division to appreciate their work.
