Islamabad, December 11, 2014: A total of 30,049,033 children got polio drops in year’s last polio campaign. Data collected by the National Emergency Operations Centre shows that total target of the districts that have started the campaign on time is 31,894,380 out of which 30,049,033 children have been reported as vaccinated. Children that are recorded as unvaccinated/missed are 1,729,279 which lie at 5.4% of the total target children. Out of the total recorded unvaccinated children, 1,657,394 (5.2%) were found not available (NA) at the time of polio teams visit while parents of 71,885 (0.23%) children refused to vaccinate their children. 

In FATA, North and South Waziristan agencies started house to house and hujra vaccination simultaneously after more than 2 years. Bara Tehsil of Khyber agency could not start due to security issues. In Punjab, vaccination activities have been extended for two day in Lahore, R.Y.Khan, Rajanpur, Okara, Jelum, Faisalabad and Pakpattan due to security. Polio campaigns in Dir Upper, Swabi and LakkiMarwat were deferred due to security concerns. In Balochistan campaign started as per actual plan
 Quetta while Sindh conducted campaign on time except seven towns of Karachi (Sindh) due to non-availability of security personnel. Catch up day campaign continues throughout the country to cover missed children.
