Islamabad, December 08, 2014: On the first day of the National Polio initiative campaigns were conducted in 158 districts. 5 districts including Quetta, Swabi, Dir upper and Lakki Marwat will hold their campaign from December 11thin a staggered manner. A total of 34 million children were targeted in the polio campaigns with 99,739 polio teams supervised by 18,604 area incharges and 6,490 Union Council Medical Officers.  

 

Ms. Ayesha Raza Farooq, Prime Minister’s Focal Person on Polio visited high risk UCs of Lahore including UC 67, 69, and 83, issued directives to concerned Union Councils medical officers to efficiently implement the validated micro plans in high risk UCs and oversee the performance of area incharges for quality polio campaigns. Ms. Farooq also administered polio drops to children under 5 in a local hospital of Lahore.

 

According to the information gathered by the National Emergency Operations Centre one day campaign wasconducted in 97 UCs of Peshawar on December 7, 2014. Provincial Control room shared the coverage that out of total 754,383 targeted children 684,557 (91%) children vaccinated. A total of 9,237 remained missed during the one day campaign and 16,335 children were not available during the one day campaign activity.

 

Field monitors also share real time monitoring information to National EOC to ensure smooth conduct and quality coverage.
