Islamabad, 5 Nov 2014 - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting of the National Task Force on eradication of polio.The meeting was held in Islamabad which was attended by chief ministers from Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, KPK and Gilgit-Baltistan besides defense and interior ministers and officials from World Health Organization, UNICEF and other development partners.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan was committed to eradicate the deadly polio virus and would fulfill all its international obligations in this regard.

"The future of our children is at stake and we must protect them at all costs."

"As the Prime Minister every child of Pakistan is dear to me and they are like my own children. No one likes to see his own children disabled," he remarked.

The Prime Minister said he has issued instructions to provide him fortnightly briefings that he will personally monitor the progress.
